We meet monthly on the third Saturday of the month 12:00 noon at the First Presbyterian Church, 456 West Pine Street in Central Point, Oregon. We meet mainly for fun, fellowship and stitching. Interested people and members of other chapters are always welcome. Potluck luncheons are occasionally enjoyed in conjunction with our regular meeting dates. Once a year, a holiday party is celebrated at a member's home. Also, we have informal monthly gatherings (stitch-ins) at members' homes for a time to visit and stitch together. Both formally and informally, we share and enjoy one another's friendship, experience and talents.
Friendship and learning are two qualities of the Southern Oregon Stitchers. Our chapter is supported in educational activities by the Greater Pacific Region and The Embroiderer's Guild of America, Inc. These groups create and finance several educational activities: a quarterly magazine, annual correspondence courses, rental of video/slides, study boxes, local/regional/national seminars and certification programs. Within the chapter, education begins with members who are wiling to share knowledge with their fellow Stitchers. Chapter workshops are taught on a particular technique. Informal gatherings at member's homes called stitch-ins focus on fellowship and stitching. At all stitching functions there is a friend ready to answer a question or lend a hand.
Fun activities are a hallmark of the Southern Oregon Stitchers. We have these items to tempt you.
